Default Greenwood ZL-1 motor (??)

I have reason to believe that I have been sitting on the motor that John ran at Le mans around in which he retired with a burned piston. That car was owned by Lance Smith back in 97 but he sold it maybe 20+ years ago. I am looking for the current owner.Name: 20250110_115412-1 - Copy.jpg

Hi, I'm confused. Do you own this engine, and if so, is it for sale, and finally - how much is it?

I see you're a new member, first of all, welcome!

Second, this is posted in the for sale thread area... if it's just a question, an admin may be able to move this query of yours and delete this reply post of mine as I don't have any info to share... sorry.

Cheers, and welcome again.
Anthony

Anthony thanks, yes it is mine. I picked it up in around 1993. It had been acquired from Greenwood back in maybe late 70s. I need to sell it. Have finally ran out of room, but would like it to go back to the car I believe it came from. Engine pad number is 1-8880-61-A, which is a number in the range that the Chevrolet engine people used for engines that went to racers. Numbers above it went to McLaren, numbers below it went to Penske (from memory - have paper docs but have recently moved and may not be able to put hands on the right now.)

At Lemans they ran pump gas (European) The piston is a 11-1 close chamber piston which in an open chamber head is 8.5-1, right for pump gas. Not sure what they used at Daytona or Sebring in those years, But pistons fine for Le Mans, burned in a racing numbered ZL-1, brought from Greenwood ... Think this may be the engine.

You have to state the selling price here in the For Sale forum,or they'll delete your ad.

Thank you. Any idea where this question may be better placed here. The engine is not for sale until whoever owns that Greenwood expresses no interest. I would like to see it back with the car.

Supercar / Musclecar Discussion or Chevrolet maybe…

But not here until you’re ready to offer it to any of us.

With respect, of course. Very cool piece!
