This handsome 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe Roadster is a documented 3-owner vehicle that has been restored to show quality standards. The Ford Model A was the Ford Motor Company's second market success, replacing the venerable Model T which had been produced for 18 years. The Model A was first produced on October 20th, 1927 but wasn't introduced until December 2nd. By February 4th, 1929 one million Model A's had been sold and by July 24th, two million. Model A production ended in March of 1932 after almost 5 million had been made in all body styles. In 1931, a total of 52,997 Deluxe Roadster (40B) models were sold which had a list price of 475.00. This car presented here is one of those examples. As the original Bill of Sale indicates this car was purchased new from Marshall Motor Sales located in Elizabeth, New Jersey. It was purchased by Langston Jones who lived in Elizabeth, New Jersey on May 29th, 1931. As the original Bill of Sale indicates Langston Jones sold the car to the Norris Chevrolet Company located in Westfield, New Jersey on June 11th, 1932. The Norris Chevrolet Company immediately sold it to Edwin Skidmore who lived in Mountainside, New Jersey on the same day. As the original Bill of Sale indicates Edwin Skidmore owned the car for the next 39 years. He sold it to Alfred Hazard who lived in Danbury, Connecticut on November 5th, 1971. As a copy of the Connecticut registration from 2023 indicates Alfred Hazard owned the car for the next 52 years. It was purchased by MS CLASSIC CARS in July of 2023. The original selling dealership folder, three original Bill of Sale documents and a copy of registration are included. March of 2024 is the first time MS CLASSIC CARS has listed it for sale.

From the information gathered this car is believed to have 17,649 original miles. It was the product of a frame off restoration but it's unclear when the restoration was completed. The restoration was done a higher level then what is typically found of Model A restorations. The exterior presents beautifully with excellent attention to detail throughout. The body is straight and the panels align properly throughout. The hood, doors and rumble seat close very nicely. The body was re-finished in Brewster Green with black fenders, running boards and accessory trunk compartment. It's believed to be the original color combination. The paint was decorated with Apple Green pin striping which complements the color theme. The lacquer paint does have some minor imprefections but still shines beautifully. It was recently detailed by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The tan canvas soft convertible top is trimmed with brown leather and has a glass rear window that's trimmed with stainless trim. The folding convertible top frame is decorated with wood accents. The top fits well and is easy to operate.

A complete set of the original side curtains and carrying bag is included. The front windshield and side glass vents were replaced new. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as the windshield trim, driver's side mirror, dual cowl lights, hood trim, hood ornament, radiator screen, headlight buckets, Ford headlights, horn, front bumper, door handles, running board rubber strips and steps, rear grab handles and steps to access rumble seat, tail lights, rear bumper and reflectors. It rolls on 19” multi-spoke wheels that were re-finished in Apple Green to match the pin striping. The wheels are wrapped with Bedford 4.75/5.00- 19 4-ply tires. It's equipped with dual side mounted spare wheels and tires with matching tan canvas covers. The original chrome spare wheel locks are included.

The simple designed interior is surprising spacious. The dash was re-finished in Brewster Green with subtle Apple Green pin striping. The kick panels, door panels and hinge straps, rear panels, rear shelve and bench seat was re-upholstered with Brown pleated leather. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced such as the rear view mirror, windshield wiper, dash bezel and instruments, knobs, steering wheel, pedals, flooring pieces and rubber floor mat. The floor shifter was outfitted with a Green swirl glass shift knob which was a dealer accessory. The rear rumble seat was also re-upholstered with Brown pleated leather. The original matching factory accessory trunk compartment is in excellent condition and fully functional.

The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout. The original born with 201 CID (3.3L) Inline 4-cylinder engine was recently removed, fully serviced and painted by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. It starts and runs excellent. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and single exhaust system. The engine is coupled to a 3-speed sliding-mesh manual transmission that operates as it should through all gears. The undercarriage is very clean throughout. The steering system, suspension and braking system was gone through during the restoration process.

This 1931 Model A Deluxe Roadster is almost 100 years old and was part of building America. This example is the ultimate collector's piece with the original documentation, 3-ownership history and quality of the overall restoration. Dare to compare this to other Model A's that have sold or that are being advertised for sale. MS CLASSIC CARS invested a total of 7,194.55 in service and detail work which is documented with an invoice that's included. This vehicle has a clean Massachusetts title that reads 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe and the VIN matches the original number on the engine block. This is a great opportunity!
