Default New Year’s Autolutions??

Well, something like that! Let’s be realistic. Eat healthier, exercise, stay in touch more with loved ones. We all know these resolutions will last a few months into the new year, but more than likely fade again until next January rolls around So let’s focus on our hobbies for a minute and see what 2020 has in store for everyone!

What’s your goals next year? I’ve got a few:

1. Get the Crusty Cuda running and driving and attend the SCR, hopefully Carlisle or Mopar Nats, and of course, MCACN.

2. Have the BMW 507 body buck complete and at least a few panels formed. (Who am I kidding? I’ll have the car done by June!)

3. Finalize the Official/Unofficial Yenko.Net/MCACN Calendar project next month and start assembling photos.

4: Look at Scuncio’s posts in the Ebay section every hour!!!!!

Of course in addition to that, I need to install more fencing around my folks’ property next door. Finish the shop interiors, garage cabinets, and help the folks move up from Florida in April.

So what’s your car plans for 2020? Even minor stuff is big stuff, so post up!

Cheers and Happy New Year!!!

Dave

I love a good Autolution!!!!

I have really ticked off some major Auto-bucket-list-items this year and plan to keep the momentum going!!!

My goal last year was to compete at PSMCDR and attain a 15 second ET, my 2020 goal was 14 second ET’s, and 2021 was 13 second ET’s.... well I pulled a 14.3 and many mid 14’s so I am moving my goals ahead by one full year!!

#1: My 2020 goal is to go 13 seconds in 1320 feet!!!

A secondary goal is to get into Donny Brass’ top 20 PSMCDR 4 speed small block list. Currently a 13.530 would push Jim Jarrett’s 2010 record off the list.

To accomplish this goal I looked at the most obvious difference between my car and these cars rear gear ratio, I averaged the top 20 and if the law of averages holds true I need 4.38 gears. I now have 4.33’s and a slew of random Olds O Type rear parts on the go to make this happen.

#2: I have a list of items to repair, restore, correct, complete, make work, etc on my Cutlass and I plan to complete these items in 2020.

I will spend some time and figure out #3-#31 but for now #1 and #2 are set.

Get my car put back together and run in the 10s at SCR. Sell off most of my 45 year parts collection so that I can get 2 cars in my shop.

Dave, you're a whirlwind.

Mine:
1. Pull the old motor and:
a. See if I can read the serial number by the oil filter and if so, try to find out whether anyone wants to buy it as it's a real DZ block.
b. If I can't see it, determine if it's rebuildable and what direction to go in.
c. Any which way, get the old motor rebuilt or put another in it's place and cruise the stinking wheels off it this year.
d. Get my old E60 running and GET RID OF THAT NIGHTMARE.
e. Sell our current house and start on our new one (not auto-related, but still a big deal to us)

- Remodel our master bathroom
- New vinyl top on my 69 GP
- Fly to Washington with my son and drive our 81 350/4 speed Z28 home this spring
- Add a 24' x 30' addition to my garage so we'll have space to store and work on it
- Get my Mom's Z28 back on the road so my oldest daughter can drive it to prom
- Attend MCACN for the 9th year in a row
- Spend the rest of the year reading all of Dave and Tony's post wishing I broke from all my other projects.

Happy New Year!!!

I'll try to get done in 2020, what I couldn't in 2019. More car stuff as usual, but need to finish my garage. I swear I'll never finish that thing.

Happy New Year to all the SYC members.

Phil Woj.
