Default Ed Fanning plaque

Came across this at an antique shop today near Springfield, OH. There was at least one thread on this for an LS6 sold new there.

https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?p=898400

I think this dealership was out of Aurora, IL. If anyone is interested in this I will be glad to put you in contact with the selling antique mall.

….and if Rick doesn't want it, I'm interested. You are correct, Sam, Fanning was in Aurora IL.

Jim DeMerritt sold my wife her new 1973 Nova. I remember every one on that plaque except for Dick Harmon.

Sorry for my slow response. Cool to hear so many have a connection with this dealership. Was this dlrshp known as a HiPo dealership? So, Jim Hanke, “Wheelhop”, was first to contact me so I provided him with pertinent info to contact the shop. I also asked Jim to let me know if he does not follow thru so I can pass the info to the next person on the list.... Rick, and then Bill.

Good luck.

They certainly sold their share of performance cars and always had a number of them in stock. The Aurora area had a number of companies with good, high paying jobs so a lot of young people had money to burn on such folly, hence there were a lot of performance cars around. In 1970, the parts manager (named Art, can't remember his last name) talked the Fanning management into sponsoring a new 70 LS6 Chevelle which Art raced at nearby Oswego Drag Strip. My friend Phil also worked there in the parts dept and had a first gen Camaro that he raced, which he towed to the track with his Shadow gray 70 Chevelle SS396. Another friend, Brian, worked there in the service dept and bought a Aztec bronze 66 Chevy II SS L79 that someone traded in on a new car....he still owns it.

Good stuff Bill. Love the connection! Bet the dudes on this plaque collectively sold some cool muscle cars in ‘69. “Hi” to Marilee!

So Jim (wheelhop) - what’s the deal? Did you close the deal?

BTW, if this outfit has unreasonable shipping/handling rates (i have no reason to believe so), let me know and i can pick it up/ship it to you. the store is about 35 minutes from me. Judging by the dust on the plaque, I’m thinking it will be there for a bit.
