Default Old Holley Valve Covers

These were on the car in the late '70's and laying in the PO's garage when I bought the car. PO had replace them with some cheap chrome "Camaro" script covers. Glass bead blasted the one, thought it turned out pretty good compared with what I started with. Anyone know when these were manufactured? Part number "14 OR 48B" is cast on the inside.
Any thoughts on if I should put a coat of clear on these after blasting to keep them from staining?

I like the looks of those when cleaned up. Maybe a coat of Eastwood Satin Clear engine paint would help keep them looking that way.

Those had to be made by Mickey Thompson. They're basically identical. Even the part number under the cover.

I don't clear any of my cast aluminum parts. If they get a stain on them I wipe it off with some carburetor cleaner and a rag.
