Default GM 409 Master cyl.

Anyone know what application a BE stamped 409 master cylinder is for?

1971 Chevelle with power disc brakes. Possibly 72 Chevelle as well.

Also used on '71/2 Olds Cutlass and 442 and Buick Skylark and GS. Not sure if used on Pontiacs of those two years.

How do I compress the piece so as to remove the snap ring ?????

if it is not seized simply push in on the center where the depress pin goes. if it is a bad core you might have to tap it it break it loose there is a spring pushing against you the entire time.

Easy way is with a helper.

Also for 1971 GTO....Was also supposed to be on the 1971 Firebird but many of those i have seen still some with the "EB" from 1970....
Odd...I don't think you were ever supposed to see these MC codes used 2 years in a row..
