Re: Cars Illustrated is back...
One of my favorite car magazines when in high school.I loved the story`s about the street racing in New York and the articles on the turbo Buicks.

Re: Cars Illustrated is back...
I remember when they got their Turbo Buick T-type test car to run a 13.85 or so on street tires. That was a revelation. They were drag racers and got that car to perform properly, showing us that good times were here again in terms of factory performance. DeFeo's stripped black Mustang 5.0 also drove the point home that properly optioned and driven, these new cars were truly fast. This was really exciting to those of us coming of age in '86/'87, having grown up in the 70s and early 80s believing that 13 second cars were last made in 1970 and would not be returning in our lifetimes.

When DeFeo's hatch knocked off a 13.40 with nothing but the 10-minute tune up and 7-inch cheater slicks, it was monumental. So much so that I actually remember where I was when I first read the article.

Re: Cars Illustrated is back...
I looked forward to every issue. I bought a GN back in 87 because of the T Type road test.
