Default 68 nova door scalp trim

Finally getting some work on the cars done. Down to removing this trim from the doors, and am very worried about how it comes off. 68 Fisher body manual only advises to use a "putty knife" and has no illustration! Tried a little today and they are not coming off without damage. Does anyone have a method/tool that works? In case I described it wrong, it is the trim on the outer door post, also referred to as D80 trim for any GM post car of the day.

I use a paint stick & small hammer & tap it easy ... Don’t get in a big hurry ...Should be able to remove it with no damage ...

No hammer. Use a paint stick and a old fashion can opener one side is pointed other side has a radius. Use the radius end place paint stick on top off door trim edge use the can opener tang to walk the trim off just like you would open a jar lid. That tang will grab the edge and open it as you bring the opener upward. You only need to go a little bit just enough to loosen trim. Once the trim is loose enough pull down and it will come off the bottom lip. I can take that trim piece off a nova door in 10 minuted this way.

Jason is on the money with the can opener/paint stick formula...I have seen him in action.
