CX Turbo 400 Speedo Adapter with E-70/15 Tires
I have a CX coded Turbo 400 out of a 1969 Camaro. The VIN stamped into it is 19N615867. The VIN is one off from a Yenko Camaro.
What is odd on this tranny is it has a speedo adapter, part number 6476735. There is no listing in the parts book for this adapter to be in a '69 automatic tranny. What I think is this trans is out of a COPO Camaro with "Sports Car Conversion" and E-70/15 tires. The adapter looks like it has been there since day one. Over the years I have tried to find out what original Yenko automatics have on their cars to no avail. Not sure if someone could figure out with the plastic gear tooth count which is 41 and the speedo adapter ratio 1: .824 to come up with a correct tire size. Attached are pictures of the trans with adapter. - Warren |

Yes, I do see that part number. My parts books shows it for 1968 model year for a '68 Z/28 with 4.56 gears and E-70/15 tires.
Need info on '69 model year. A COPO Camaro normally came from the factory with 4.10 gears. So what I would like to know E-70/15 tires with a 4.10 rear and Turbo 400. That is the info I cannot find in any GM literature on what adapter to use. - Warren |

Speedo Reducer...
I'm no COPO expert, but the E-70 x 15 would have been the tires with the RS package..?? or some other upgraded suspension option. Std. wheels were 14" XT...or the COPO wheel as the say on Flea-Bay
Gurus can add to this I'm sure... -wilma

Couldnt this trans be out of a L78 Camaro and not A copo?

I doubt it is out of an L78. If the car had a 3.73 rear it wouldn't have an adapter. If the L78 had a 4.10 rear it would have had the 3932220 adapter.

If I'm reading the applications correctly, it could have come from a L78 with 4.56 and F70-14 tires.
