Default Posi date codes

OK, thought I had this figured out years ago but,
that’s the problem, that was years ago!
To much time since the last time I needed this.
Case in point,
I have a “140” 3 series Posi unit and as you they are dated on the
outer ring gear flange.
This one is “E 22 J”
Are these
Month-Day-Year
Year-Day-Month
And then when did they start dating them?
Appreciate any input you might have.
