Default '69 RS/Z, interesting engine stamp

Nice looking RS/Z originally painted Daytona Yellow. Seller states that the DZ block is a NOM, but I'm intrigued by the assembly date of "0838" (evidently August 38th) :-)

Is this a known anomaly?

Either I have seen that 0838 (i.e. August 38) engine stamp before, or there are multiples.

Yes, known anomaly. About a half-dozen examples out there.

Probably supposed to be Aug 31.

This car was just sold a couple years ago and I think it was also mentioned here. Can't find it now?

'

Were any late '68 cars DZ stamped as some Suffix listings note?

As mentioned, this is a known anomaly. I have pics of this stamping from 5 different VIN cars.
Its a legit stamping and this engine is not original to this car.

The one pictured above I believe is 19N507576. I have pic of the whole pad.

Reminds me of the funky transmission VIN stamp on my original unrestored 69 L35/M20 LOS car. Occasionally some strange things happened at the assembly plants.
