Re: License Plate Frame
They used to run Super Chevy Sunday events back at Seattle International Raceway (now Pacific Raceways) here in the Seattle area back in the mid to late 1980's. I remember going and getting one of those license plate frames.
They stopped one year and it changed to Super Chevy Show, with the rumor being that the organizers of SCS having skimmed off some of the revenues and not accurately reporting or sharing them with the track owners. Used to be a fun event. I went to the Super Chevy Show weekend back in about 2000 or 2001 and entered my '62 409 Bel Air in the show. They had really nice big trophies, but the judges were all sponsors who chose the winners, so of course you had a lot of hair salon and restaurant owners choosing the "shiny red one" when asked what their favorite car was....

It wasn't CC that PO'd me; it was the cops in Indy. They would beat on your fender with their night sticks to get you moving through traffic. I also got a night stick in the back of my neck when I decided to Walk rather than Run from their police/dog line. I turned around and looked at him and the dog. With fire in his eyes he said, "Just try something, please just try something". Verne |

The first Super Chevy Sunday events were just that --> Sunday only events. The first ones were run twice a year at Orange County International Raceway (OCIR) in Irvine, California, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. I believe the first year was 1980. It ran at OCIR until it demise in 1983. I Think it went nationwide that year. |
