Cool 1971 & 1972 Dodge Swinger 340 Special

You can be forgiven if you’ve never heard about a special Canadian Mopar produced during the twilight of the muscle car era. Even Canadians themselves scratch their chins and furrow their brows when discussing this vehicle. So queue up a Chilliwack LP and prepare to learn about the 1971-1972 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 Special.

Those are really cool, although I do prefer the Demon/Duster fastback body styles, and those are totally (in my opinion) underrated as as muscle car.

A couple friends of mine each have one of these. Stout little cars they are.

A guy in my hometown had a twin the red one with a flat black hood and a wing on it back in the mid 80's, always loved the way it sounded. Nice to see those 340 cars getting some respect, I'd love to have a Demon.

I think it's being missed by some that these cars are 1971-72 vehicles special-ordered by a Canadian dealership. In 1970 there was a Dart Swinger 340 but not officially after that. These cars in the article are the unofficial ones from 1971-72. John Brown gets it.

Umm I "heard" different numbers back in the 90's when I went to BUY 1 of these?

Car was a Black/red interior 1965 Falcon 289/271 4sp with 4.30 gear FACTORY RACER I was told by the 3rd owner. I was told that there were just over 50 of these little 289/271 cars made for the Ontario dealers.

I can remember the car plain as day. Had the red highlights in the side trim, but over the trunk it had red, yellow and orange. Car was call "Just Falcon around" script on the back. Car was from London onto IIRC and I seen it in Cambridge Ontario. It was about 40% more then my 1969 Nova SS 396/350 car I bought at the same time as I was looking at 2 Falcons and this my Nova.
