'65 Malibu SS Time Capsule Vintage Drag Car
Not a cream puff, but doesn't appear to have been touched since the 1970s.
Scariest fuel cell I've seen in some time...but would be a neat car to put a little work into to get it safe, and drop in a motor and trans. Link to 1965 Malibu SS Vintage Drag Car auction |

Pretty cool!
I don't think we should call that a fuel cell. |

Looks like a beer keg. Maybe it ran on alcohol.

Possibly a modified air tank?
Love the straps. If the straps let go would it drag the ground? That would make for a nice fire show! Paul

May be an old freon tank.
I am liking the black 55 on the next trailer in the last photo.

What would they say when you got in the tech line with that fuel tank today? Probably something like No Freak-in Way Put it on the trailer!

Can you believe this car is being flipped for TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS? In the link below.

I'd rather have the one 65 with 15,000 miles that was wrecked, w/the L79.

Exactly....
But at the end of the day I'd rather have your '66.... |

Wow, and are some of those photos in their auction pics of their computer screen of the original eBay listing?!
I'm also surprised that those black plates that lead with "A" are original - but the 1973 era pink slip seems to corroborate that... that must've been one small DMV office that first licensed that car - my 65 had the original plates and they began with an "R"... And I'm not sure it runs from that auction description - I don't see $18k of value added there. Nope. Hard pass. |
