I wonder, when the "Woodie" era was over, how many of the wood craftsmen went into the furniture/cabinet making industry.

As you can imagine, any Duesenberg is worth a lot of money. But like all things, some are worth more . . . A LOT more. This 1935 Duesenberg SSJ set a worlds record at auction in August 2018 as THE most expensive American car ever sold at auction. Not only that, but this fellow here also holds the title of most expensive pre-war car ever sold. The hammer came down at $22,000,000!

It is 1 of only 2 SSJs built and was own by actor Gary Cooper. The other was owned by actor Clark Gable. It was not uncommon to see them racing each other when the mood struck them. Short wheel base, supercharged: 400 horsepower.

All car marques have a pinnacle - a zenith, and Duesenberg is no different. This is considered to be the most valuable Duesenberg ever built. Nicknamed the "20 Grand" as that was the original sale price for this 1933 Duesenberg. That translates to just under $500K in today's money. It currently resides in the Nethercutt Collection which is something like the Brothers Collection with Pre-War cars. The appraised value of the car: $40 million.
