William,
Charley is too kind. Beware, there exists a group of vigilant Super Car enthusiasts who seek and punish Super Car wrong doers.
One of their 10 comandments is to protect
Super Cars from the crusher at any and all costs.

Just FYI.

I enjoy relating these experiences but one must understand what the cars were selling for at the time. When I found the gold Yenko, virtually perfect originals were around $10k. This one was a stripped hulk in the mud at the yard. I did pick the dash and axle out of it. Cost me $75. I do have the body tag...

I'll skip the details of #38, safe to say it needed some work. This was shortly after the Super Chev issue with all the VINs. The market for them wasn't well defined; no one knew where it would go. A few years later #55 ZL1 sold for $65k, a near-perfect documented original with 8,000 miles, one of 2 RS. It sold for a lot more a few years later. All of us missed the boat on that one.

So I guess I had my opportunities. Maybe they are a buy at what they are selling for now. Charlie keeps raising the bar tho :-)

The guy Dave got # 38 from told Dave he got the car through Ed Cunneen in about 1985 and at that time the orig. engine had alredy been reunited with the car. Maybe Ed can comment ?

William,
Is the Yenko you mention one of the Documented 198 Camaros?
