That's my problem is finding good comps, everything is full blown restored or a rat!! All the key parts except for the fan clutch are original to the car, manifolds carb master intake starter water pump and radiator are correct.
No rust, floors are undercoated, chassis is just ugly but honestly from 10 feet away car is great looking. Honestly the paint was repainted in the 80's and someone actually took the time to paint it correctly and strip it correctly(that was surprising)
The gentlemen and me are between 65k and 70k and that's where I'm struggling!
Rarity originality and condition always speak on price but a tweener is a fine line on the price

If I had to reach to buy I'm I in a safe place with this car or should I just walk away and call it just another over priced car that someone will never sell cause they bought it for all the money 30 years ago and now they want 5 times what its worth???

I'm no expert but, from what the guys here have said, I would think it also depends on what your plans are for the car. If you are going to hang onto it for a while then it might be okay to stretch it a bit in order to buy the car. If your plans are to flip it then maybe you should pass if you think his asking price is all the money for the car.

On a good day that car brings 145 ....restored. Work backwards from there. Restorations are not cheap ...but it depends on the level that you want it to be after completion. You cannot drive trailer queens BUT you can enjoy that car as it is in its current state. This site is filled with knowledgeable people that enjoy their cars and helping others. You cannot put a price on happiness for you and your family and friends.

You two are close enough that I think you will be kicking yourself if you don't get it. Probably a fair deal for both. Congrats on the find.

Sounds like a rally good car. Look at the positive and negative things this car has to offer. Originality is huge anymore. I am finding out. I can not come close to affording a 67 Z so I bought a 68 Z. OE engine and trans are gone, but the car has very good potential. I paid near market value for it. But I looked at what I was getting and it was worth the sum of its parts. But missing all the Z28 only engine parts is expensive. You say you have been looking for 25 years. So you know what to look for and can compare this car to others. I know of a 67 near my home that is all apart. It needs light restoring and put together. It is a white RS, Deluxe interior car. And the price I have been told is 40k. The economy here is depressed so that is a lot for joe average. Like you stated, sounds like you answered your own question. But you just wanted some reassuence. Most nicely restored 67's you see average in the $125 range. Know what needs done to the car and what it will cost to get it to the level you want.
