Default BaT auctions

Have any of you's guys listed a car for sale on Bring a Trailer and if so, was it successful? Any pitfalls with it? How easy was the process to sell?

Just curious since I've never used it before and thinking I might try it.

Cheers
Dave

I know 1/2 dozen car guys that use it.....there only complaint is they wish there was more domestic car sales....more Muscle Cars.

I would think it would be perfect platform for your Porsche sale.
Best of luck.

Dan

I have, and it went very smooth. Success will come with lots of pictures and total transparency . No different then when you normally sell a vehicle. Also, be ready to interact with the “ peanut gallery”, meaning there are some “legit buyers”, which by the way you can check, and of course the key board warriors. It can be a lot of fun especially w 2 min to go.
One last thing the Bat auctioneers will also negotiate the reserve.
Happy to talk further
Bary

Thought you may find this article helpful. Interesting how the auction does not end until two minutes pass without a bid.

And this why I like it over eBay . The shell bidding can happen but if u click on bidders names you can see their history which says a lot .

I have my e24 ‘84 633 CSI pending with BAT now. Wait time from acceptance of car to going live has been about 2 weeks. I’ve heard it can be 2-4 weeks. BAT writes the description for you - you’re only filling out a questionnaire. Take great pics, the more the better. Videos are also important. $99 starts the process For an entry level auction. $250 gets you pro photos from a BAT commissioned photographer. There is another class of auction for higher end cars. In terms of fake bids, let’s not be naive. If it happens on eBay it will happen every where. BAT does charge a % of sale price after the bid is initiated to deter fake bidding but it’s only a deterrent. The two min reset of the auction clock is great for buyer!

The fee structure on BaT is pretty fair IMO. $250 for pro photos is a no brainer if you aren’t a decent photographer to begin with.

Ok, great. Thanks guys! Just thinking if I wanted to go that route on a couple cars or not. Seems unique.

Cheers

They are very picky with the reserves since they really make their money from the buyer. The buyer pays 4 % of the selling price. They just accepted my 1967 435 Corvette said the auctions are 2 to 3 until they get listed. We will see how it goes.
