Default 1969 Olympic Gold Nankivell Yenko YS-9034

Congratulations to Doug Perry who is now the proud owner of the 1969 Olympic Gold Nankivell Yenko Vin#124379N579034 or YS-9034. I am posting this for Doug.

The car was bought out out of the state of Illinois off the long term owner who has owned the car since 1976.

The car was purchased new by a Rick Barratt of Indy at Nankivell Chevrolet in Indianapolis in early 1970. Yes, the car did not sell until 1970 the car was used by Jim Nankivell as a demo before being sold to Rick.

Once Rick bought the car he proceeded to remove all the Yenko decals/emblems and the car was then street raced around Indy. Then the car was used as a race car and proceeded to be raced at Raceway Park, Muncie Dragway, Edgewater Dragway, Milan Dragway, Beech Bend and others. This car was a National Record holder in the early 1970s when Rick Barratt and Tom Burnell campaigned the car together for a short period of time to which the car was then sold to a Max Gasser who continued to race the car in the state of Indiana primarily at Muncie Dragway.

Doug is currently researching more into the history of this car.

I thought I had heard it was in Eastern Iowa. I guess that's close to Illinois. Congratulations Doug and team. Cant wait to see it.
