Default Barrett Jackson Auction - Scottsdale

Wife and I are planning a warm weather long weekend and decided to head to Arizona and hit one day of the auction in late March. Aside from the auction itself, what other car cruise-type of events are "must see" in the area?

As of today, Pavilions is still closed. Although the principals are still working with the tribal council, Pavilions will eventually reopen, maybefor BJ weekend. We receive weekly updates on Pavilions.

In the mean time, you can drive over to Glendale to the Mixteca Cruise at 67th Ave and Bell on Saturday night. Attendance has been overwhelming lately and many Pavilions Cruisers have come out. Bring masks as you may be required to wear them. I frequently post photos and videos on other venues.

I have heard there is another large cruise in Mesa and Avondale, but have no details.

Many of the Phoenix area car show/ cruise web sites have become quite lame. Although far from complete, check out https://arizonaautoscene.com/weekly-cruises/

Hope this helps. There are some other cruises, but you asked for “must see”.

And I think you'll have to buy tickets for the auction online, in advance....no on-site ticket sales, from what my wife read. No spectators allowed in the sale building (where the cars cross the auction block) either.

For Pavilions, there are many things that have been said...and heard....from limiting cars to 50-75 cars, that must be preregistered and approved-and the crowd to no more that 200. This, from two well known sources that are long time Pavilions attendees

Also have heard that the show conceivable could be across the street from the Mc Donalds now. Who knows? LOL

This is from the actual website for the show, FWIW:

The Rock and Roll Car and Bike Show in Pavilions at Talking Stick is TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO COVID 19 RESTRICTIONS and will re-launch once we have established permission to host groups larger than 50 people. We are following the Arizona Governor’s guidelines on restrictions and are committed to re-launching the show as soon as possible. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding.

Please check back here for updates on our planned re-opening. We are grateful for your support for over two decades.

Any SYC members going to the auction today? PM me....I'll buy you a beer! Hopefully there will be something happening around the Pavillions tonight since the Arizona governor lifted the mask mandate yesterday.

Nope, not going. I do know that Jamie Jarvis (a member here) will be there selling a truck and a Corvette. We had dinner with him on Wednesday. Good times!

Pavilions-IF it was running would be on Saturday. From what I know, it's still not going

Just returned from the auction. Prices seemed very high. Watched a 69 HO/black VT RS/Z go across and brought $100K. No idea if it was a real car or made up but the underside was rattle can black including the fuel tank and the paint had numerous chips, some touched up, some not. Placard stated "older restoration".

Since Ducey lifted the mask and gathering restrictions and stated bars and restaurants can now operate in full capacity, I see no reason why the Pav's can't get with the program, other than the fact that it's reservation land and they tend to do their own thing despite what our Governor says.
Shame really, BJ weekend, before and during, is always fun over there.

I've been going to 67th and Bell. Worth the trip over there for a Saturday night cruise if you have the time.
