My opinion is that it's an outlier based on cars build in that time period and engine assembly date, as stated in the report, as well as no visibly detectible VIN. To conclude it's original based on those factors, well it's a stretch. For me it's inconclusive as "born with". Now if others are found, then it would be a more convincing conclusion.

Exactly.
Additionally, the last two known Feb engines in a Z28 are 5 weeks and 7 weeks earlier. Yes, it was not a first-in first-out system, but they were using up all the engines coming in in that period.

As someone who has looked for an original/born with / numbers matching Z for sometime, I always find these discussions interesting and helpful because I am an enthusiast not an expert.

It always brings me to question of the various values attached to carS based on Matching/date code correct etc.? So I kind of given up and went in a different direction in terms of my vehicle purchases.
I am grateful for the insights I get from reading these threads.

This really is a beautiful car and I appreciate the transparency with the info.. I know someone will be happy with it!

----I think you could do worse than this nice Z at this price point or maybe a bit less if you are a good negotiator. Good all around car with a great unusually beautiful color......Bill S

Mike, any chance of getting a better picture of the trans stamp? How about a picture of the actual axle stamp on the tube?

"I think you could do worse than this nice Z at this price point or maybe a bit less if you are a good negotiator"

Yes, but it is always better to know what you are buying before the purchase.
