Default Freon R 11

Have a full 30lb Bottle of Freon R 11, don't know if it can be used in old A/C systems like R 12.? Any A/C techs that can chime in.? Will be sold once I know what it is/isn't. Thx in advance

Not interchangeable with R12.

Probably should be disposed of properly.

"Since R11 has highest potential to cause the depletion of ozone layer, as per the Montreal Protocol, its use and production has to be stopped completely in the phase manner. R-11 is now being replaced by other environment friendly refrigerants, of which the most common is R-123."

R-11 Is for large industrial chillers. I worked with the stuff back in the 70's at a few Vegas Casinos we did work for. And we also used it to "Flush out" A contaminated system caused by a burned out compressor, the oil becomes contaminated, so you flushed it with R-11. Thats some good stuff.

Old Coca cola machines use R12.

Evidently they pay like $12-13 a lb for this stuff.? who knew.?
