Default A couple Q's about a 74 Z & a 62 Impala?

Saw a couple cars on FB and wondered if related statements were correct:

1. Were 1974 Z/28 stripes applied at the dealers instead of the factory?

2. Were there any 1962 409 Impalas that weren't SS's?

Thanks.

----I can easily answer No. 2. You could get any full size 62 Chevy body with any of the 409 engines available. Bubble tops are the prime example.....Bill S

1974 z28 could be ordered with or without the D88 stripes.

If you ordered without stripes, you got the metal z28 emblems on the fender.
If you ordered with stripes this eliminated the fender emblems.

Stripes were installed at the factory

Some confusion here may be that if a car was ordered without the stripes, the dealer could order them and put them on.

Exactly, i knew a guy in my town growing up back in the late 70's who had a 74 Z-28 without the stripes but the Z-28 fender and rear emblems were there. Personally i would of liked the 74 Z-28's without the stripes.

Yup!! My car came with stripes. When the original owner removed them, he added the emblems. I do have an NOS stripe kit that at some point, I plan on putting back on (after repaint), as it came. When that happens, I will remove the emblems as it should be.

Our 62 was ordered as a standard (Non SS) Impala. When a previous owner restored it they added the SS stuff.
