Default 1965 396 425 HP dealer crate motor

Have friend with 65 crate 425 HP 396. Never been out of crate. I need info as to what cars this might be correct for. He thought they were sold by dealers because to use in NASCAR, a cerain # had to be available???

Your right Motown it's the same engine/specs, NHRA got wise to the lower factory rating and re-factored the engine to 425 hp. for stock class.

The only difference as installed in the cars are the exhaust manifolds. The Corvette required K66, also.
