Default Authentication needed

I'm looking for authentication on these Block stampings.

It's a 1970 Z28 350 with a four speed trans.
What I want to know from some of you experts is if you
think there has been any foul play with it.
The VIN is 514353 and is correct for the car.
Could it be just a bad stamping from the factory??

I appreciate the help. DH

I'm adding this information: It is a Van Nuys car.
There does not appear to be any stamping near the oil filter on the casting.
The date code at the left rear of block by the casting number is a clock with "T" at the twelve o'clock position and the clock hand pointing at "6" o'clock, I have photo but to large to attach. DH

In the top pic you really cant see the broach marks and the block appears to have been lightly decked or surfaced at one time. As far as the stamp not to familiar with the second gen.

Looks like someone got out the sandpaper to see the stamping and ruined it.

I agree^ If it's a Van Nuys California car. It's not unusual to see the vin stamping on the pad. It looks like it was lightly decked. And Maybe doctored a little to bring it back. Also sanded.

Looks like the block has been decked to me. What's left looks good to me. I can make out an "L" in the partial vin.

I do not see any information in your post regarding the block casting date and body (trim tag) info. Since the engine assembly month is all but obscured, it would be important to be sure the casting date, engine stamp and body build week align. I agree the block appears to have been decked but even partial info can be very useful...but the info available must be in alignment.

I think the stampings are legit and that the block has been decked which almost totally got rid of them

Thanks to all who responded to my inquiry, at this point I'm satisfied about the stampings.

A 514353 VIN would be a 5th week of March build for a Van Nuys car. Does this seem correct for the casting numbers and the rest of the car? The block casting should be an early to mid-March timeframe.
Check the Second Gen registry for more info here:
http://www.camaro2ndgenerationregist...-registry.php#

There is a 514329 that is close.
