Default '69 Camaro, Hugger Orange Arizona Car, off the road since '74

Looks pretty solid, but the driver's rear quarter is definitely holding a good bit of bondo.

Wasn't this in Mike Kaisers yard just a year or two back. If the same car it was sitting in an old abandoned speed shop building in AZ for decades. Looks like the same car to me?

It didn't have a motor or trans with it when Mike sent me some info on it in 2017. In the trunk was a 427 block that was being marketed separately, and Mike told me the channels for both the front and rear windows had a fair amount of condensation rot from sitting inside a building with the windows rolled up for decades. Thought it had a bullet hole somewhere too?

He was asking 18K for it back in 2017

That car sat outside for as long as I can remember. Frank Townsend was going to use that car to rebody a crunched Z/28 that sat in the rear part of that yard. I knew a guy who had the born with engine from the Z/28. Frank wouldn't buy the engine nor would he sell the Z/28. Townsend's Racing world was a little different place...Joe

Mexican ZL-1

Barn find? I don’t think so… It was located @ 1180 W. Glenn St in Tucson AZ
(Google earth/map it) you’ll see it in the middle, back of the lot in front of the big shed. It has sat outside in the weather for the last 30+ years. It was a part of Frank Townsends estate and car collection, along with two other 69 Camaros and quite a few early GTO’s we saw. There was (NO) ZL-1 in the trunk of this car when we looked at it ? But we did find some rust from a leaky back glass. They were asking $5000 for it, was told the car actually sold for around $9,000 to some investors from Cave Creek. And don’t forget the finders fee! Good chance the engine came out of the shop, there looked to be 50+ BBC’s in there. Cool fake story though.

Always nice to hear the real deal from someone in the know. Thanks for setting the story straight. Personally, I'd like to find a clean builder body that looks weathered and faded like this one. Something clean to build a nice street machine out of. Faded paint and all, but something with very little rust.

The Z is just to the right of the middle of the big tree. Just to the south of the partial semi trailer you can see. I had posted a photo back then of the original spare in the trunk. The car is in phoenix now and the original motor is long gone now its in another local Z with numbers matching motor now. (decked and restamp) There was a lot of history in that yard for sure. Larry
