Default eBay going to 100% electronic payments only

Looks like I won't be using eBay anymore after October.

Starting this fall, we're moving to an electronic checkout process that's faster and more reliable for sellers and buyers. As part of this move, checks and money orders will no longer be accepted on eBay...So starting in late October, 2008, we are moving to 100% electronic payments - credit cards, ProPay, or PayPal.

So much for that.

Not a problem for me. I prefer paypal. I hate standing in line at the post office waiting for a money order. I won't buy anything on ebay any more, unless they take credit cards, or paypal.

It does favor the buyer and can be costly for a seller with an unhappy unreasonable customer.

This is but one of many reasons why I won't deal with PayPal

(watch out for the ".com" version of the above website, it set off my antivirus alert)

I have absolutely nothing to gain by using their service.

I always used Paypal, thinking that it was a Good, Safe way to transfer Money.....Which it is......Plus....I never let them take the money directly from my Bank Account, I always used American Express as my Funding source thinking that I would have a Double Guarantee and could challange a "Problem" by denying payment thru Amex...
Well, I bought and Paid (thru PayPal) for some Items and never received them........I went to the Paypal Resolution Center and filed a Dispute about non delivery (Remember.....They always say it the Safe, Protected way to Pay)....After 5 weeks I was informed by PayPal that the Dispute was Ruled in my Favor, But......I would only get a Refund if the Seller returned the Money to Paypal.....But, Since they either changed Identities or were no longer a Registered Seller on Ebay........The Chances were very slim that I would ever see any Money.....
So.......I thought....No Big Deal as I would deny Payment to Amex.........Ends up if I did that, Paypal would Freeze My account and would end up being in a "Pissing" Contest with them......Guess who would end up on the Short end....
In the End I decided to just write it off as it wasn't worth the "Hassle" .......So Much for the Safe Way to pay............. ..........Although....Many dealings on Ebay and having being burned by just one "Jerk" I guess isn't that Bad...

I haven't been burned by paypal "yet"... I would rather them leave it alone and let the check and Money order people stay around. I got burned once on a 6 dollar decal that never showed up after several emails and a promise to send a second one... Almost got burned one time on a deal made after an auction ended... He got my 400 bucks plus change and several months later I finally got my part after many phone calls... Last deal I will make like that one. I do use paypal, I use a bank that is separate from my regular bank so if something happens it isn't going to affect my other finances. After several years of Internet, I am still scared of online transactions..... I probably always will be... I still use stamps and snail mail for most things even though everyone trys to get us all to do every single thing in life online ...

I have never accepted pay pal nor do I have an account. It protects the buyer and not the seller. I have had only one bad check in 8 years and it was made good after notifing the buyer. Time to look for another source to sell items. Larry.

Looks like the IRS will now get what they have been wanting---an indisputable paper trail that will be simple to get. It also appears ebay is bound and determined to kill the golden goose by giving all of the leverage to the buyers. Ebays forums are full of sellers who have sold big ticket items, gotten paypal for payment, sent the item in good faith, only to
