----The car has been around for sale numerous times. I tried to sell it to a customer in Florida about 8 years ago. Always in Steubenville though. It is gorgeous but the pad certainly warrants a hard look!......Bill S

Subject VIN 118376W146344
What are the realities of originality/resto/paint/mileage etc?
Nice to see Gray Baskerville's name mentioned, RIP.

Stamp Pad looks good to me, but someone tried to file or sand it. I wonder if this is an ex drag car with the low miles. I would like to see the block casting date, Muncie and 12 bolt stampings.

I do remember my old L-79 66 Chevy II had the VIN stamped with individual stamps, not gang stamped. It has been over 20 years since I sold the car but I do recall the funny stamp that looked like a 7 year old did it. The engine had never been apart until I disassembled it in 1987.

Is this a factory stamping or a restamp?

It could be, just not like the couple I've owned that were survivors sitting since 1969 and 1974.

Pretty sure NOR was using gang stamps by '66. I have an example somewhere. Ill compare it to the one above.

Jim the seller was the salesman at Reilly-Chev Olds in Stuebenville Ohio in 1970 where my 8k mile LS6 was sold new. The L79 was from Al Maynard's collection, I remember seeing the car there in the late '80s. It was originally out of California Jim told me.
