The 427 in a full size Mercury was not a big seller at all. For the three years ('63 -'65) it was available, Mercury sold 154 427 powered cars.

Ford on the other hand sold 8,319 427 powered full sized cars in the same time period.

Mercury does have one great distinction that probably very few remember. In 1958, they created the very first engine to produce 400 HP - The Mercury Super Marauder 430ci with 3x2.

Windshield Wipers and Reverse Lights were still options throughout the 1965 model year. Both would become standard equipment on all cars beginning with the 1966 models.

Approximately 76% of the Z/28s were built in the last 5 production months of the year (March 1968 through July 1968). Early production 1968 Z/28s were very rare. Only 5% were built in the first 4 months (August 1967 through November 1967).

Plant Production:

Los Angeles Plant: 21%
Norwood Plant: 79%

Buick made 2,140 1967 GS 400 convertibles. 422 had a 4 speed and 9 had the standard 3 speed manual. The rest (1628) had the auto.

"Two speed" windshield wipers, perhaps?
