Probably not common the guy stamping it probably just put the 9 in upside down.

This is what he wrote and it ended up being his old car he was the second owner. I had him on my list as a previous owner but could never find him. I was talking to him on the phone as the austion was ending.

It sure looks like the one I had from about the late 1980s until the late 1990s. I wonder if my name is on the list of previous owners. When I bought mine it had mileage in the high 50s I think and I sold it with mileage in the high 60s. On one of my several cross country trips wth the car it was backed into in a restaurant parking lot in Indiana. Not big damage and I had it repaired and then repainted the front clip to match the rest of the car. I lived in NH when I owned it (if it’s the same car)

I always wondered why everything underneath was so original but had new bumper brackets, bumper and license frame
