Default 3890534 muncie tag and transmission identification

I picked up a muncie transmission and the tag has 3890534 tag on it. Date stamp Is P7R04 partial vin 7B126965 appears to be a L78 transmission from a chevelle can anyone confirm it being for or from a L78 chevelle. I guess a early 1968? If It is? I would like to get it back in its original car if its still around.

October 4th 1966 I would guess being a early 67 model built in Baltimore. Maybe a steep geared car, the reason for the change in part number?

No L78's till April 67 is what I have heard. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Considering the date code is October 04 of 1967. Would it be a for a early 1968 chevelle? Did the 68 L78 chevelle use this transmission?

The date code is October 4, 1966 for an early 1967 model car

The second digit on the stamping means model year not actual year.
So in this case, its the 67 model year, but built in Oct 1966.

Ah, I get it. A little reading and 63 to 66 muncie transmissions only got a date not a year. Learn something new every day. So it's a 1967 with a L78 designated part number. Is there a registry on the 67 L78 chevelle? I would like to check the partial vin for a match.

Thanks Robert, I saw that one too. Not much there to use and I cannot get on it. I'm going to post up the partial vin on www.chevelles.net maybe someone there may claim it. Otherwise it's just going to sit on my shelf. I'm no in any need of it for anything now.
