Why wouldn't they? Its not like it is a required tag like the VIN. It looks like someone may have smoothed the firewall at some point which was not uncommon in the 80's and 90's. Would you rather have no cowl tag or a fake one?

Just being a Mecum fan, friend, and customer since 1993, I'd expect it would have one. To answer your question, Now that I think hard about it, I would say no tag instead a bogus tag. Once again Jason, thanks for calling me out on it, great question.

Bill,

I don’t mean to call you out all the time. I really don’t pay attention who I am replying to most of the time. It would be nice if they at least pointed out the fact that the cowl tag is missing.

The more I look at the picture I think this is a plate over the firewall and wonder if the tag is behind it. Look how the plate is cut to alow the wiper motor to come through.
