Default collector car insurance

I recently learned something very interesting that hopefully will be of help to others.

When I purchased my first collector car I called one of the major collector car insurance companies and obtained insurance. As happens to most of us this soon became an addiction and I continued to add cars calling the same insurance company each time. Later I decided to get my dealers license and then added garage liability insurance using the same insurer.

I felt confident that the insurance company was treating me right on the price, but recently I decided to bid out my insurance needs to the other major collector car insurers. The quotes came in almost 40% less than what I was being charged. Point is if you have stayed with the same insurer for some time you might be surprised what you will find out when you bid this out.

I just sent a friend who was Parish Heacock to my guy at Haggerty... Because my coverage is over a 1MM they inspected my shop, went over the alarm , fire and theft.. security , sprinklers... smart on Haggerty's part, Parish never did this.. my buddy has a quite a few cars and saved 5 figures on his policy and got better coverage..

The other thing about Haggerty for those of you in California... my policy includes earthquake damage , something my other policy did not include.

You know, I thought the same way about my current carrier for years. However, when I checked prices last week I was shocked how much I was being overcharged. It is especially irritating that if I had sent my current insurance needs to my current carrier and soon to be previous carrier they would probably have quoted me as a new customer about what the others are. I always found it was easier to keep a customer to find a new one, but apparently that is not the case.

If you have not quoted your needs in the last year or so you may be surprised what you find out.

I'd like to see insurance in GA based on mileage. I'm getting killed on cars that were not even driven in '08!
