NO such color listed for Pontiac, Buick, or any other GM car...special order only, NC/SC only. Believe what you want, it was not a standard color and the data plate.

Good example, a picture is worth a thousand posts.

Was this car sold in either NC or SC? If not, it is not Caroling Blue. Just as theFord guys think every PINK Mustang they see a a PLAYBOY PINK car, it isn't. The 30+ C/B Chevys I knew of in Burlington in 66-68 were a richer blue, but if this is the original paint it could have faded.

According to paintref.com no paint code 71 existed for a 1970 Chevy....

I just saw this 1967 truck posted on CL, seller lists color as Carolina blue and white. Don't know if he is just loosely referring to the color or it is the actual color specified... **I have no affiliation to this CL listing**

I'm not following. Any dealer could special order any color. Denver dealers and others in SD and CA also ordered this shade of blue.
There was no production Chevrolet color this shade of blue so dealers often ordered paint colors from other GM lines (though they weren't limited to just those colors). Different Carolina dealers could and did order different shades of Carolina Blue - 63 Wedgewood blue & 69 Azure Blue come to mind. Real GM colors that were actually used.
I bet the zone provided some guidance on color choice. Most I have seen are the shades shown in this thread.

If I am not mistaken the Light Blue Z28 JL8 car with all the paperwork was ordered through a dealer in Colorado.
With the exception of something having been pre-arranged with the University, I can imagine no reason Central nor Zone office would have cared which dealer wanted what color... they were there to sell cars.
