How do those M&H Muscle car Drag tires drive on the street? Do the soft sidewalls make them a little squirrely on highway off-ramps, etc?

I don’t notice anything scary.....but that’s all I’ve had on the car for years. First was Mickey Thompson Indy Profile tires for a long time. Then I had ET Street DOT 28x10.5 tires but they only had 8” on the ground. Now I run these....they have 10” on the ground and look the part best. IMO

The Indy Profile tires looked great too....they would stick good at the track but beefed for mercy on the street....lol

The ET Street also looked good but the M&H look and work better.....for me.

The skinnies up front will move around when caught in a wide gap in the road. When I’m on a curve or turning, I try to take my time.....although I’ve been known to “try” and keep up with some friends in the Hot Rod Power tour when it came through Wisconsin....lol

I keep the tire pressure around 28-30 on the roads and 19-21 at the track.

Kurt

Another great tread. I am torn between day 2 and modern radials to drive the wheels off mine. Maybe next year I can "justify" a second set with my wife. I am in the middle of a 4L80 install and getting grilled on cost.

Kurt how much room do you have on each side of the tire. With a little ballast I can get mine to hook with G60s, but I also like a full wheel well.

I have plenty of room.....the key is to have the correct backspace. For a 1968-1972 Chevelle, whatever the width of the wheel is, divide in half and add a half inch. For example, an 8” wide wheel needs a 4.5” backspace.....ideally. Most of the 8” wide wheels I’ve found have a 4.25” backspace, which work.

I have a set of 7” wheels with a 4.5” backspace. They work but sit in a little too far. But they do fit.

Kurt

Hi Guys, just an update. I followed Kurt’s advice and went with M&H Racemaster Muscle Car Series tires size is P275/60-15. They are mounted on Cragar 15x8 with standard offset. Air shocks with extension bolts and a Shackle lift kit helped with the clearance. Not to mention the Day 2 look I was after. Thanks to all for your thoughts and input. Rob
