The continent of Antarctica holds 90 per cent of the world’s fresh water reserves. If global warming melts the Antarctic ice sheets, the level of the oceans could rise by 70 metres (230 feet) all around the world. But before that happened, all human life on Earth would have disappeared. For the ice sheet to completely melt, there would have to be a 10-degree Celsius (18-degree Fahrenheit) rise in the global temperature, which would be fatal for humans. |

The only thing that comes to mind is that the US is inching its way toward the metric system....but we are still a mile away.
