Default Original Owner SD-455 T/A

I have known Ken for several years as his wife and my Jani are long time pals. I have seen a couple of Ken's Mach1s, but I was intrigued by his story of "Our SD-455".
I recently met Ken's Dad, Chuck. Chuck is 85 years young and was only too happy to share details of the '74 SD-455 that he ordered new. Today it shows 19,000 miles, totally original except battery, tires and some service items. He related that he had just removed the original tires so that he could drive it a bit, but did keep the originals.

"I have a radar gun and when it was new it clocked 156 MPH"

Chuck then got really excited telling me about his new Jeep Track Hawk and how it would run 10s (?) as delivered. And since it is titled as a truck he can deduct it against the farming operation lol!
Went on to tell me he had been trying to beat the advertised 0-60 and 60 foot times, using the AWD to best advantage. In fact, that brace on his left hand in the pix, he suffered that during a Jeep launch!!

I can only hope I have Chuck's health and enthusiasm at age 85!!

Well the auto trans/Air condition cars were forced with the highest gear ratios available with an SD, so the top-speed car of choice would be his car.

A Real SD Trans Am is still my #1 dream car. I'm not staunch, but I do consider myself a Pontiac guy above all else. Specifically a second gen T/A guy.

I think that car has cruise control! I wasn't even sure it was an option that early in the second gen era.

Chuck is a true inspiration. I dont envision living that long much less driving high HP cars at that age.
