Love this car! I was very close to buying the Steel Cities Grey 72 Corvette Convertible with 3600 miles that was on eBay last week. He wanted a few thousand more than I felt it was worth and we couldn’t strike a deal.

The chrome bumber C3s are coming on.... finally.

Still a good value, IMHO. I doubt they will ever go the other way.

Back in the mid 70s I did a lot of aligments on both mid years and the C3s. Some of the customers regularly autocrossed. I put in a little extra caster, and ran about 1/2 degree neg. camber. They really handled well set up like that. I liked driving the C3 better. If you could just figure out how to keep one from rattling.

A few months ago, I drove my 69 Opel GT and the 70 LT-1 back to back. I thought a back to back run would be fun, seeing that they were both GM and both designed by the same guy (BTW, the Opel design came first!). Granted, my LT-1 has been sitting since 83 and is in dire need of weatherstrip EVERYWHERE. Still, the little Opel feels so much more solid driving. And no comparison when you shut the door. The Opel door shuts like the door on an older Mercedes. Way more solid that the Opel Kadette or even the Manta. Massive door hinges; with grease zerks.

Sorry for chasing the rabbit. Still, graduating from HS in 1971, the C3 was for me, the one to have, and I still like them as long as they have chrome bumpers.

PRETTY SURE THE OPEL GT, did not pre-exist this (1965 Mako show car) which the C3 was based on...?

And, of course the '64 Banshee styling exercise is an influence that pre-dates both...obvious influence
