1969 Chevelle SS 396
I’ve owned this Chevelle since 1980! This was my first car! Opportunity is knocking to go in a different direction, so I’m offering this one up. If it does not sell, no big deal, because I still love it.
Features a non-matching number 396 big block with correct components (this is not an original L78 car), original M20 4 speed transmission (VIN stamped on top), original 355 posi rear, F41 suspension, non-original spiral shocks, five repro Goodyear Polyglas tires on the original SS wheels with four original trim rings and deep center caps. The exhaust sounds awesome and features the stock exhaust manifolds and a Gardner Chambered Pipe exhaust system with original style hangers, resonators, and chrome tips. The black bench seat interior was restored using Legendary Interior products and features working factory tach and gauges, AM-FM radio (unmodified), original Muncie Shifter (top to bottom, not just the handle), rear window defogger, aux lighting with map light mirror. Even the clock works and has the correct movement, not quartz movement! It also has a vacuum operated trunk release and the rare CE1 headlight washer system, which I disconnected as it is very messy! The power brake master cylinder and booster are original to the car, and also features the '69 only power steering reservoir. The original complete manual transmission lockout is present and functions as it should. The rod from the lock out to the shifter is a repro unit. Engine, trans, rear, all mechanicals have been rebuilt/replaced. The Holley 4346 was restored by Eric at Vintage Musclecar Parts, the transmission and the distributor were rebuilt/serviced by Jerry MacNeish. Original color was Cortez Silver, which I was not a fan of in 1986. So when the frame-on restoration started in 1986, I chose a darker metallic silver. It had the SS stripes on it when I bought the car, but repros were not available in 1986, so they were painted on and cleared over. Since then, I have carefully maintained the Chevelle to the best of my abilities. However, it has also been driven and enjoyed, so there are some chips, dents, and blemishes that should be expected on a car that is driven. When I lived in Maryland, it was driven to shows in North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, and Indiana. You’ve all seen the car show and cruise photos I’ve posted over the years. This Chevelle runs and drives great and the cooling system works well here in the Arizona heat. Detailed with an eye on originality, this Chevelle receives lots of compliments and the occasional trophy when I take it to a show. But make no mistake, it will not compete with the high dollar restorations of today, nor was it restored to today’s standards. I’ve sorted this Chevelle out so I can drive and enjoy it. If you are a trophy whore, don’t buy this car. If you want a car with original documents, I don’t have them, and never did. The window sticker pictured is a reproduction. If you enjoy driving muscle cars as they were intended and can accept the wear and tear flaws, this one may be for you. Offered at $39500. Re: 1969 Chevelle SS 396
There are extra parts in this cabinet that I will include in the sale of the car. They include two original two-piece rotors (thin), two orginal (to the car?) calipers, orginal rear axles and the 3:55 ring and pinion, a new idler arm, and whatever else I can find in there. Vacuum attachments and pebble sheets not included. I'll include this show board too.

Re: 1969 Chevelle SS 396
A very nice presentation and description...well done. I doubt you could build it for the asking price.

Re: 1969 Chevelle SS 396
Love that Chevelle. Hard to believe you're selling it. Reminds me of the beginning of one of those "...looking for my original muscle car...." ads you read about after seller's remorse. Best of luck with the sale, looking forward to seeing what you're picking up next.
