Default Water Pumps early 60s SBC

Good morning!
I have a chance to pick up a couple of early SBC short water pumps from the 60s. They are not restored and paint is a peelin'.
Do not or can't spot dates number 1 and what sort of fitting(s) should they come with?? Oops 3782608 and 3782609 are the numbers.
Thank in Advance!
Ted

I don't think water pumps were dated until 1965.

----Ted,,,Low horse pumps wont have a bypass hose fitting on top, and are generally worth less. GM didnt think the bypass up into the intake necessary. I dont have any casting #s in front of me......Bill S

Ted,
The 608 pumps were dated up through early '64 when about 3 months worth had no dates, then the dates came back.

Good afternoon gentlemen!
The 609 pump has the outlet fitting on the top of the pump.. Is it wise to take the flaking red paint off these pump or leave them the way they are currently? In the meantime I am taking pics of the both water pumps and specifically going to zone in on codes, and or dates, if any. Is there a specific length of the top outlet fitting or marking(s) on the 609??
Thanks!
Ted

I could not pass on the pumps. The 609 has a "GM 3" on the front near the part number. On the back of the pump there is a fairly large "S3" encoded . Anyone know what that means??
Thanks!
Ted
