Re: 1967 L78
Two more makes seven correct. There are more L-88's and more ZL1's then 67 4k convertibles. Is there another GM muscle car with so few examples existing today.

1967 L78
'
Considering the '67 L78 Trim Tag designation, you'd think the survival rate percentage of cars built would be higher for 67's than 69's...both being equal w/ other factors such as verifiable Original Components/Stampings/Paperwork/Pop's etc? ~ Pete

Re: 1967 L78
Pete,
I agree that a higher percentage of '67s have to be known because of the trim tag call out. With 1138 L78s produced we'd know of many more rags if they represented 10% of production. It seems in the higher performance engines that a lower % of rags is the norm. Factor that with a higher survival rate of rags and my guess is that fewer than 5% were built. It could even be much lower than that. Lets estimate 25 known cars and an 80% survival rate and you end up with a production number less than 3%. Of course it's all guess work but it seems pretty clear that the '67 L78 rags are some of the rarest high performance cars of the era. |

Re: 1967 L78
I know of an early built one in West Virginia. Cowl tag says 4P but it's P Plate designates the L78 engine. Been setting for years in a garage. Going to fix it up day.

Re: 1967 L78
I think the 67 L78's in general and the 67 L78 verts in particular just don't get the recognition they deserve, these cars are some of the rarest GM high performance cars ever built. Fewer than 5% equals 56 cars originally produced with less than 10 known today.

But they are not 427's.

Re: 1967 L78
67 Z28's are more valued in the small block world, and there are many more 67 Z's than 67 L78 verts.

Re: 1967 L78
But they were the highest horsepower Camaro produced in 67. How many of the known cars have born with engines?
