Back then there wasn't much out in that area...….Skips....Kiddieland…..Maywood Park Racetrack......and North ave that Skips was on......Going east from Skips it was quite a ways to the next stop light...….. So...That's where all the racing took place...Started in front of Skips and down to a predetermined point...….So....At that time in my Life I was 19 years old and had a brand new L-79 Nova...….LOL......Going to Skips at that time and seeing every kind of Muscle car that was being sold was a car guy's dream......But...At the time as we lived thru Muscle Car History......We didn't know it....and the casual street racing took place there.....The serious racing took place elsewhere.....It was fun to go there and see the cars, but.....unlike today there wasn't a lot of talking going on between the "Racer" guys as everything was in the Super Secret mode.....LOL...….I remember the car hops there wore Roller Skates....Probably wouldn't be allowed today due to Law suits....LOL.....Lot's of Rumpity Camshafts back then...….One of my friends had a 64 Impala Convert 327 4 speed car...….We put a Isky 505 cam in it and when that car pulled in with its mean sounding engine,...… everyone came over and wanted to see what was under the Hood...….LOL.....Never opened the hood as he wanted it to be the mystery car...…….Fact is it was a stone, but it sure sounded good and kept everyone guessing...……..Again......we lived thru History and didn't know it.....
