Default WIW? 70 Chevelle SS 454 4spd, scorched

Friend of mine has known about this hidden car for some time. Don't know if it is a LS5 or LS6. I do know it is numbers matching as the lady that has owned it most of its' life has said so.
Back story on the car. My friend was called to look at this lady's daily driver that was sitting in her basement garage. As my friend was going down the steps to the basement he spies this green Chevelle sitting under blankets and normal household stuff over in the corner. He tries to ask about it but she basically told him he didn't see anything, to just keep walking.
Fast forward.
My phone rings. Friend tells me that the ladys' house burnt down and the car is still in the basement. Pool table came down from above onto the roof. Tops of fenders are scorched but look good from there down and interior is burnt. Tires are still holding air. Underhood area still looks ok (painted valve covers I remember him to say??). He is a long time (40+ years) body & paint guy and believes it can be saved.
My question is what is it worth? Lady has given him the "if you can buy it from the insurance company than I will do what I can to make that happen." Hope to be able to help him get it out if he can get it.

If it has painted valve covers and assuming they are the originals than it is not an SS of any engine size as all big blocks had chrome (unless of course it is one of the rare LS3 cars). It is REALLY hard to put a number on the car without knowing (or seeing) it's current condition, original paint or repainted, low mileage, body/rust condition, options, colors, etc. As an insurance claim purchase and assuming the worst I would say somewhere around $1000-1500 unless it proves to be something other than described.
