The design chief of the time, who shall remain nameless, had a fit. He said "you don't just go and change an iconic logo like the Chevrolet bow tie to some different color! Do you think Target would just go around and change the color of their logo?!?" So he made us change them all back to yellow (I apologize if you were involved in that).
So - a couple observations, now that some time has passed:
Target's logo, as of October of 2019 (left)
and - the original Chevrolet emblem, as flown proudly above Chevrolet Flint Manufacturing (aka "Chevy in the Hole").

I see black bow ties now on a lot of vehicles. A guy at the Packard swap, always has tubs full of the older gold bow ties.
