Wow, that's a rare one with the '88s.

WILMASBOYL78 03-18-2019 05:59 PM

68 l78/4.88

This car is all about the rear...without any of the original drive-line I question the ROI if you added all the correct pieces. Finding a date code correct 4.88 rear won't be easy...when is the last time you saw one??

Of course, I may be wrong, but it would be like you were building the car to match the paperwork...and without that factory 4.88 rear, I just don't see it.

If i were to buy this car, no way would it get a total restoration. I would clean this car from top to bottom, buff the original paint, leave the interior with a good cleaning, and fix that bottom drivers seat.

That’s what I did to my car and am very happy with the outcome.

I think this Camaro is a keeper, Camaro’s are popular and I would think this old girl will bring much joy!!

It's not original paint.

Guess i didnt read that article to well. So is it the original paint code green when repainted? If it was or was not the original color, i think i would still leave it alone with a good buffing. Just my thoughts.

Agree this is a nice 68 Camaro roller. Drop in a 396-375 Engine with a close cast date block and 840 rectangular heads cast date close and 163 Aluminum intake. So much potential. I like the 69 Camaro's better. But this still would work.

I like it.....a perfect Day 2 project. As stated above, build a 396/375hp, Muncie 4-Speed, a tall gear out back, wheels, gauges and drive it! With documents to boot!

I frequently hear people say that they don’t have time for a project or they’ve sworn off projects for whatever reason. It deserves the right person to step up and take this on, but you can bet guys would be lined up to for it once the car has a correct drivetrain and is drivable again. Love the color and options on this car.

Ryan, this car would look great on you and you would definitely do it up right!

I can see this bad boy parked next to my Cutlass!!! I need a second job!!!

This car needs the same work as mine plus sourcing a correct drivetrain.... or even close to correct would be the same fun!!

Drivetrain is easy. Tough to find close dated 4:88 gears but close is ok

Billohio 03-20-2019 05:52 PM

I have a set of 4.88 gears but think they were late 68 dates. Axle would be a tough find.

Hotrodpaul 03-20-2019 06:07 PM

Looks like Heartbeat City has one....dated 2-21-68, close to the original. Expensive though.

Buy this one and sell the current rear to re-coup some cash.

That ad is from Nov 2016. Not sure if it was sold or not.

I had Factory 4.88's in my 67 z
