1969 Camaro cushion grip wheel NK1

Good morning

Were some 1969 Camaros originally ordered with the NK1 black cushion grip steering wheel? I had a Feb 1969 L78 years ago with it..no reason to doubt it wasn't the original wheel...original owner claimed it was.. I also recently looked at another early spring 1969 car with it. I have seen where it is disputed if it was available or installed in 1969 Camaros though.

thanks

Released as a Camaro option April 2, 1969.

Very rare; only two documented installations.

Van Nuys car built on or about June 30. Guess they missed it.

So the wheel in the L78 was the same wheel but the horn button wasn't trimmed in vinyl. It had what looked like a '70 Chevelle stainless horn button...same as the car I looked at recently, which was a SS/RS 350 car with tons of options.

Are '69 Corvette wheel center sections vinyl or stainless?

It's discussed here: http://www.camaros.org/swheel.shtml#sw69
Still only 2 69 Camaros documented with it....

I think my old Orange -Orange SS had it. One of the two ?

Yes, I have one on my 1969 Z-28, maybe its one of the documented ones as I had posted the GM docs here a while ago.

its a late sept. built car exported to the west coast of Canada.

it also has the raised ribs on the edge of the drivers door with the VIN decal
you find on some late almost 70 model year production cars.

it was sold new at Mussallem Garage in Haney BC

I've added some options that I like, real OEM steel cross ram hood I found in 1984, GM cross ram, JL-8 brakes w/service diff and 22 plate Eaton posi, GM tinted windows, endura, am/fm, and day 2 stuff, headers, steel flywheel and Mcleod clutch, period Lakewood 2 piece scatter shield, newer hurst comp plus with the bolt on stock style round handle, M-20 and 4:10s to work with the '142 off road cam.

I've kept all the original cast iron manifolds, shifter, bellhousing etc if I ever want to go bone stock again

Not normally a fan of red cars... but the Z is bad ass looking, especially with all the day 2 type stuff.. great car!
