Tilt steering column

I am restoring and installing a tilt column in my 68 Z28. I have run into a roadblock in getting the tilt column dismantled. I have done a dozen 70 and later columns but this is a first attempt at a non locking column. Can anybody direct me to a correct diagram or resto thread.

Thanks for the help. The tip that I was looking for was that a puller is necessary to trove the collar to access the mechanism.

you need Kent Moore J-22598 to get the collar off.

I tried today with a claw puller but the case tapers around the back of the collar. Looking for a good diagram that shows how a puller is supposed to attach.

the curved 'jaws' fit under the rolled upper lip of the collar. i've used the tool and it works.
