70 Pontiac or Chevelle key warn buzzer ?
1 Attachment(s)
O.K.,that annoying key warning buzzer keeps buzzing even with the key out when the door is open..I found this part broken under the turn signal switch inside the column...my question is...I can't find a good view of a TS switch so is this piece a part of the TS switch or seperate ? It pushes into a square hole on the inside of the column and I can't really tell if it broke off the TS switch....damn buzzer

Bob,
that IS the culprit. It is part of the key switch not the turn signal. If the plastic housing gets broken, it allows for a ground contact and the buzzer to activate. You need to replace this part. Lots of fun! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |
Re: 70 Pontiac or Chevelle key warn buzzer ?
Thanks Rick...Is it a seperate part from the key switch ? Hey you Pontiac guys...is this piece shown in the Pontiac assembly manual ?

Re: 70 Pontiac or Chevelle key warn buzzer ?
Yes it is. It is located down at the base of the key switch. I have had to repair/replace these numerous times and it can be kind of tricky.

Bob
I Love that Damn Noise! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif Yours doesn't look broken to me in the picture.Make sure you slide the open (Notched) end into the column first. The end with the two fingers sticking out go in last, and should overlap at the 11:00 O'clock position I believe..Once in the column, slide the key in the ignition switch to make sure the end of the key is pushing the contacts together inside the column. If not, bend to correct. These do wear down as time goes on. Do all this with Battery power on,& the Door open,so you can test and adjust the distance beween the metal contact fingers while still in the column.Once you get the right distance, button up the column and steering wheel so you don't have to keep breaking it down over & over again. Ask me how I know this.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif The other Rick |
