Radiator tank codes

Going through boxes of stuff I know I will never use.

I came across some radiator tags that I either bought a while back or are from some of my dad's stuff.

PK tag with IF and AJ tank codes...

The confusion was probably at the assembly plant. A friend knows of at least one early L78 that received a blacked out tail pan sometime after the bumper was on and trunk weather strip installed.

Very interested in hearing if the rear panel is original paint.

I would not be surprised if it slipped through with body color paint since it is such an early L78.

Amount of sheen on the rear panel blackout varied, due to many factors. It’s the same paint as the rockers.

At least for 1968 it was “supposed to be” 30 percent...

40 years ago I used to help my dad when he was rebuilding them. We had a Sun distributor tester. I wish I still had that.
