3970010 - Block Casting Number (2 or 4 bolt design 4" bore, 302 or 350 usage, late 69 thru 70's)

I 23 70 - Casting Date Code (Sep 23rd 1970 I think)

If that's correct the block in my car is not the right date because the P-O-P reads V0323CTB.

The 010 block is correct, and the location of the date code is correct as well. I'm not sure it's decoded as Sept of '70 though, wouldn't that date be for a '71Z - assuming this block is the original block? The POP lists the engine assy date, not the cast date.

I think that's the letter B,not the letter I.
Which would all make sense.
Block cast B-(February) 23rd,1970.
LT-1 Engine assembled at Flint 3-(March) 23rd,1970.
Z/28 Camaro w/4spd assembled 4-(April),A-(1st week),1970 at Van Nuys plant.

I think your right about the "B" and when I blow it up real big it looks liks another letter and B does make sense. I now believe this car has the original motor in it. What do you guys think?

To me, it looks like someone ground off the letter and the end number.
